Che cos’è FotoX1000?
“FOTOx1000” è una mostra, curata da Francesco Amorosino, che sarà realizzata a Roma per l’VIII edizione di FotoGrafia. Festival Internazionale di Roma.
Mille fotografi da tutto il mondo sono chiamati a partecipare con uno scatto sul tema del festival: “Le declinazioni della gioia”. A ospitare l’esibizione sarà Sala 1, storica galleria non-profit di Roma, in passato con mostre fotografiche personali di Joel Meyerowitz, Elliot Erwitt, Guy Tillim, Alf Kumalo, Paolo Pellegrin, World Press Foto, Mario Carbone, Cristiano Berti e progetti con Gianni Berengo Gardin, Hai Bo, Hannah Villager e tanti altri. Sala 1 (http://www.salauno.com/) è da sempre interessata all’arte giovane e aperta ai grandi numeri, come ha già dimostrato nel 1991 con “ArteX1000”, un’esposizione di ben mille pittori. Quasi 20 anni dopo, Sala 1 torna a giocare con lo stesso numero, per una mostra che ospiterà 1000 fotografi e le loro interpretazioni della gioia. Una mostra ambiziosa, che vuole essere un momento di incontro e di scambio per giovani e meno giovani, e un grande spunto di riflessione per chi la guarda. La mostra, che aprirà il 16 aprile 2009, è inserita nella programmazione ufficiale del Festival.
Come partecipare:
Il termine ultimo per inviare le foto è il 15 marzo 2009. Gli scatti dovranno essere in formato cartolina, 15 x 10 centimetri. La libertà di realizzazione è massima, è ammesso il bianco e nero e il colore, l’analogico, il digitale e anche l’uso di qualsiasi programma grafico.
Le foto vanno inviate a “Francesco Amorosino, Via Vallarsa, 35, 00141 Rome, Italy” e via e-mail a photoX1000@gmail.com insieme alla scheda d’autore in cui indicare il nome o nickname, Stato di residenza, indirizzo e-mail o indirizzo postale, e, se lo si desidera, un breve curriculum fotografico e una spiegazione della foto, informazioni da riportare anche sul retro della foto. All’inaugurazione della mostra saranno esposte le prime mille foto arrivate in base alle modalità precedentemente descritte. Se le foto pervenute dovessero superare il numero 1000 tutte le foto dalla 1001esima in poi saranno esposte nei giorni seguenti. Durante l’esposizione il pubblico, se lo desidera, potrà portare via una delle foto esposte. In questo modo, staccando la foto dalla parete, sarà possibile scoprire l’identità del fotografo e, per così dire, “adottarlo”.

What is “Fotox1000”?
“FOTOx1000” is an open exhibit, conceived by Francesco Amorosino, to open in Rome as part of the 8th annual festival Fotografia. Festival Internazionale di Roma.
A thousand photographers from all over the world are invited to participate, with a work based on the theme of the Festival: The Declination of Joy. The exhibit will be hosted by Sala 1, Italy’s oldest non-profit space for contemporary art, with previous solo exhibitions by Joel Meyerowitz, Elliot Erwitt, Guy Tillim, Alf Kumalo, Paolo Pellegrin, World Press Foto, Mario Carbone, Cristiano Berti and projects by Gianni Berengo Gardin, Hai Bo, Hannah Villager among others. Sala 1 (http://www.salauno.com/) has always supported young artists and open to large numbers, as evidenced by the 1991 exhibit “Artex1000” which opened the gallery to a thousand artists, each with a single work. Twenty years later, Sala 1 returns with a play on the same number, for a project that will host 1000 photographers and their interpretation of the theme of “Joy”. An ambitious project that demonstrates a moment of encounter and reflection for the viewer. It opens on April 16, 2009 and is part of the Festival’s official program and catalogue.
How to participate:
The photo must be sent by 15 March 2009: in postcard form, 15 x 10 centimeters. Maximum freedom in the realization: black and white, color, traditional or digital, use of any graphics program
The photograph should be to “Francesco Amorosino, Via Vallarsa, 35, 00141 Rome, Italy” and via e-mail to photoX1000@gmail.com together with a label indicating the name, date, e-mail or postal address, which should also be pasted on the back of the photo. The first 1000 works to arrive will be shown in the exhibit. Subsequent entries will be shown if possible; during the exhibition the public will be invited to take away one of the photos from the walls, thus discovering the identity of the photographer and “adopting” the artist.
A page dedicated to the project will be registered on the photo sharing portal FLICKR where one can also post the entry.
